STORY BEHIND THE IKONIC ARTISTRY CUSTOM ASICS GEL LYTE III “LAUGHING SKULL” VORTEX EDITION

Maurice Smith, founder of Sole Obsessed, has brought together the perfect team for a history making partnership. In conjunction with designer Ikonic Artistry and The Vortex, they will release exclusive and limited sneakers on Black Friday. The designs will tell a story and impart history on the consumers, as well as celebrate the 25th anniversary of Asics Gel Lyte III. The highly anticipated Asics Gel Lyte III “Laughing Skull” Vortex Edition will only be available to the first 10 customers, for the price of $280.00. They are expected to sale very quickly from the growing anticipation.

With experience designing footwear for over 4 years, Ikonic Artistry has been called on by the likes of Cam Newton, Dwayne Wade, and several others to create one of a kind magic. He is a graduate of Savannah College of Art and Design, and everyday student to the arts. Specific interests include footwear design, custom sneaker design, industrial design, furniture design, canvas painting, and sculpture making. Ikonic Artistry was professionally trained by the legendary D’wayne Edwards at Pensole Footwear Academy in Portland. The “Laughing Skull” project is something he takes a lot of pride in.
As an Atlanta native, Maurice Smith has been into sneaker culture, and the power it holds, since a teenager. He created Sole Obsessed to provide an informative source for news, deals, and one of a kind merchandise. The nearly $50 billion dollar industry is nowhere near slowing down, and Maurice has created his own spot to grow along with it. Tying in The Vortex for the project was a pretty easy decision for him based on the restaurant’s national attention from shows such as Man v. Food, and numerous other awards and honors. Also the Little Five Point location is nestled in between a free to be artistic area of the city. The shoes embody all of that, representing change and culture.

This collaboration is the reflection of forward thinking individuals and companies. It is game changing, and only the beginning of great things to come. Sneaker culture can and will thrive through this original and ingenious project. Head over to www.SoleObsessed.com for more information.

About Maurice

Born and raised in Atlanta, GA, Maurice Smith serves as founder of Sole Obsessed. A connoisseur of the "Sneaker Culture" since his early teen years, Maurice has seen this evolving culture grow into its present status...from the beginning of the world wide web's involvement in the culture(with blogs such as "Nike Park", etc.) and no "camping out" for shoes...to the social networking based raffles and reliability of the media to increase anticipation of releases. Maurice has pursued his goals of forming a source for not only news within the sneaker culture, but an informative source for everything "pop culture"...
